“But the fruit of the Spirit is love, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control. against such things there is no law. those who belong to Christ Jesus have crucified the sinful nature with its passions and desires. since we live by the Spirit, let us keep in step with the Spirit.” (Galatians 5:22-25)
i read this verse the other day and couldn’t help but feel completely guilty. guilty that patience, kindness, and goodness has not been on my top 10 lists, especially during the holidays. honestly, it’s been more like stressed, anxious, worried, overwhelmed, and maybe (maybe) a touch of love.
so this verse challenged me. it challenged me on the things i know and hear over and over again (especially at this time of year)… to “remember the reason for the season.” to not get so caught in “doing” that i miss out on “being.” to stop worrying about the things that really don’t matter and really focus on “keeping in step with this Spirit.” i love how this verse says that… “since we live by the spirit, let us keep in step with the Spirit.” so this is my hope this season; to keep in step with the spirit… not with my worries or anxieties or gifts or clean house. i hope this inspires you as it inspired me.
